ramblings

How do we know that what we have is ultimately what we want? I guess it's intrinsic human nature that we can never be satisfied with whatever we have. We'd always crave for more. Give the man a Merc, and he'd want a Bentley. Get him a condo and he'd want a mansion. There is no limit really.

-------------------

I guess sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you can never rekindle the magic of a friendship forged in the past. Because that magic resides in the past, and we're in a different era now. Too many things have happened in between. We're all different people now, going through different things. Maybe that was how it was intended to be all along. But I guess, you meet people along the way for a reason. Perhaps, it was to teach you a lesson. A valuable lesson in life. Perhaps it was to discover a side of you that you never knew existed. Perhaps just to add on as another megabyte in your memory stick. Whatever the case, we should savour the current and the now and live every day as if it's your last. Maybe in a few years down the road, there'll be a different kind of magic in a new friendship formed. Ultimately, we only plan but it's God who decides.

Anyway, I had a fantastic day today. Finally went out with Fad after like what, two weeks plus? He took me to Straits Kitchen at the Hyatt! yummylicious. I luurrrrveee that place man! I am SOOOOOO coming back there! haha. It has a fantastic setting, lovely furnishings, wonderful ambience. After all, 5 star hotel what. And the food! OMG. yes the food is superb! It's worth every single penny paid, even though in a buffet you probably will not eat as much as you pay for. But worth it, nonetheless.

Otak-otak, grilled sambal stingray, rice with rendang, chicken in kicap, mee hoon goreng, satay (!!!), many many more assorted dishes to tantalise your tastebuds. And that was just the malay kitchen!

The chinese kitchen had food like stir-frys and oyster omelette, the prawn noodles and laksa, popiah! oooooh.. and chicken rice!

then the Indian kitchen had naan with all sorts of curries.

There were also local favourites kuehs such as goreng pisang and cempedak. and gado gado and rojak and muah chee. and ming jiang kueh. and kuih lopes and egg tarts. and ice cream!!!

omg. the choices were endless. I had like 4 rounds of food and I wanted dessert already cos I was too full! haha. I just wish that I had brought my camera with me to take pictures. So wasted la. hehe. And it's not too expensive for a hotel buffet too, although it's not somewhere that you'd eat at everyday. About 36 bucks per person after including all the taxes and service charge. Not too bad for all that eh?

Then we went to watch The Island at Lido. I'd say that movie was worth every single cent of the seven dollars that Fad paid. Good plot, great acting. Although I just wonder, if that doctor said that the clones don't have a soul, how can they feel? Or understand whatever is going on around them? Don't you need a soul to feel, to think, to feel guilty or happy or whatever? If the doctor said that they don't have souls, yet the clones in the show can feel and think and question their existence, then they must have souls right? So where do the souls come from? God? or the doctor who's playing God? Are they suggesting that the people in the show actually were successful in creating humans with souls? ok, I know it's just a movie but i just wonder if the scriptwriter actually noticed that loophole.

And it had some great lines too.

*Well, you'd want to eat the burger but you don't neccessarily want to meet the cow right?*

erm, actually I can't really remember the other lines. Oh well, but great show nonetheless.
